A splendid necklace featuring a set of rare graduated lamp work spun glass beads from Bohemian Gablonz, Czechoslovakia. These beads range from 6mm diameter to 18mm and alternate with matching 6mm beads. Strung on silk thread with a sterling silver spring clasp. Necklace is 24 inches in length.
We purchased these beads during a trip several years ago in the town of Jablonec nad Nisou, formerly known as Gablonz before WWII so we couldn't be more certain of their origin! These spun glass beads were made by a lamp work process reducing glass to thin threads and then spun into a bead. This was a Venetian style but was produced in Bohemia starting in the early 19th century. These beads were likely made in the 1920s.
