Luscious butterscotch and eggyolk colored Baltic ancient yellow Amber, mottled and swirled; to call it opaque would be ignoring the depth and subtlety of the partially blended colors in this vintage necklace. The oval size graduated beads are knotted on golden colored thread and are terminated with the original "screw into amber bead" clasp. Beads range from 9.5 to 7.75mm. Necklace is 22 inches long. The Amber beads are light and warm on the wearer, unlike heavy cold glass beads. Besides emphasizing the wearers beauty, it is a pleasure to wear. These beads are made from fossilized tree resin between 320 to 90 million years old. Often transparent or heated to produce “sun spangles” this petrified tree resin, or Amber, necklace is naturally opaque to semi-translucent and is unheated, untreated and completely natural. Its original owner purchased it sometime between 1920s - 1930s. 19.2 gram weight.
