3 large marbled Bakelite Amber beads. Cylindrical Phenolic resin, African trade. 24x20mm to 24x26.5mm. Two beads are barrel shaped, the third a sphere with flattened ends. These date to the mid 20th century or earlier.   These beads are highly prized and traded in Africa and are made of Phenolic resin made to imitate petrified tree resin or Amber.  Made in Germany in the early decades of the 20th century, beads of this composition have been traded in Africa for over 100 years. Hole size is 3mm. 31 grams.  Listing is for 1 strand of 3 beads.
