Necklace made from excavated and reworked ancient Roman glass shards beads from Ancient Bactria.  These beads are strung with an assortment of fine vintage pearls:  Japanese Lake Biwa, Akoya Keshi, South Seas silver.  The 25 1/2 inch necklace is finished with a white gold clasp.

These excavated ancient glass fragments cut and drilled to make unique beads. The beads have rainbow-like burial patina in an array of  colors with some iridescent patina and mineral deposits. Ancient Bactria (northwestern portion of ancient Afghanistan and Tajikistan) was an important trading center between 600BC and 600AD being on the Silk Road in between Europe and China. A lot of Roman Glass shards were excavated there and have been cut and bored to made gorgeous unique beads by Afghan local villagers. These beads are irregular in shape and surface texture with some mineral deposits, rainbow patina on some, reflecting their 1000+ years.
