Earrings featuring carved steatite scarab amulets set in a silver metal setting, paired with ancient Roman era glass beads. The carved scarabs come from the estate of an antique jewelry and bead dealer/collector and were acquired in Egypt during the 1960s. While the scarab amulets are not ancient, they likely date back to the Art Deco Egyptian Revival era (1920s) or earlier. Each scarab is engraved with hieroglyphs on the back and measures 15x11mm in its setting. The Roman glass beads were made from shards excavated in an area of Afghanistan that was part of the ancient Bactrian kingdom. These earrings hang from silver plated ear wires. The total length from the top of the ear wire is 1.75 inches.
