This is a vintage Navajo bracelet in the Fred Harvey style from the 1930s to 1940s. It features a substantial sterling silver cuff and a striking polygon-shaped turquoise stone with a line of matrix reminiscent of a Mandelbrot fractal. Applied thunderbird motifs adorn either side, and decorative stampings can be found along the ends of the cuff.
This handsome piece hails from the Fred Harvey Era, a period marked by the completion of Route 66, which drew tourists from the east to the southwest. These bracelets were often sold at trading posts along the highway and other popular tourist destinations, where a range of Native American crafts were in high demand, with Native American-style jewelry being especially favored by visitors.
